Happy Thanksgiving week! I have been trying to put together a Christmas list as my family will surely ask me what I want when I am home this weekend. This is one thing that will be on my list! I have lusted after the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder for quite a while now. Prior to finally caving and purchasing the powder, I had been using Maybelline Face Studio Master Fix Setting Powder (read the post here). Though I liked this powder, I felt that it oxidized and therefore made my foundation and concealer appear darker. It also didn’t last long as it is sold as 0.21 ounces. When it ran out, I splurged and ordered Laura Mercier’s version. So, does it live up to the hype?
YES! I use this powder everyday and a little goes a long way. The biggest deterrent for me with this product is the price. However, it comes in a full ounce. Maybelline is almost $10 for 0.21 ounces so Laura Mercier is actually cheaper by weight. I have been using the powder for a little over a month and have barely made a dent. It also lasts through a 28 hour shift, which is worth a little more money!
In the morning, I semi-bake the powder under my eyes using a damp beauty blender after I have applied my foundation and concealer. I then dust a small amount over the rest of my face with a brush. After finishing the rest of my makeup, I then brush off the excess powder under my eyes. They sell a puff to apply the powder, which I don’t think is necessary. It applies easily without becoming cakey.
I have not noticed any change in the color of my foundation and concealer after applying the powder. It truly is translucent, as promised. I also have not noticed a flashback, which can happen with setting powders, in any pictures that I have taken. I am wearing this powder in my most recent Instagram pictures (here if you want to check it out).
This has become a product that I can’t live without! Do you all use a setting powder? If so, is there one that you think lives up to this one and costs less? Let me know!
